Les membres du groupe Seawind débutent dans les années 70, sous le nom de Ox,* à Hawaï. Ils enregistrent leur premier disque sur le label CTI en s’attachant les services du batteur: Harvey Mason comme producteur. Cette association donne un très grand disque de jazz-funk. Des compositions arrangées, à la perfection, par le groupe avec des textes d’inspiration chrétienne chantés par la chanteuse Hawaïenne Pauline Wilson. Les musiciens sont d’un niveau assez exceptionnel et très vite on va faire appel à eux sur d’autres sessions. Quincy Jones, notamment, débauchera le trompettiste et arrangeur Jerry Hey pour ses propres productions, tout comme Earth Wind & Fire (7 albums), Michael Jackson (Off the wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, HIStory).
